Aaron's Farewell
We had a farewell party for Aaron about a month ago. Yes, i'm this slow at updating. Anyway, Aaron is this indian-portugese friend of mine i got to know here in Kansas City...well, he's actually both a friend and an ass...and he knows it. Aaron loves to be an ass. What i mean is, he just likes to annoy other people whenever he gets the chance. But he's a good fella, really he is. So we gave him a farewell party at my apartment.
The night started alil slow, well maybe because i wasn't there to begin with...hahahah..i was at work, but i got off early. it was a pot luck, but i didnt cook anything, cuz i'm the host wat..heheh..had penang laksa, fried chicken, fruits, red bean soup, etc.
we were really lucky to be able to play some decent music during the party. and it so happened to be aaron's own mp3 playlist. i think it was almost a miracle. it's a long, detailed story, and i don't need to bog everyone down with the facts.
after food, we had two groups playing big 2. loser downed 2 cups of water! muahahaha..! i was not so fortunate to lose...heheheh...marcus had 6 cup-fulls of water i think. but it wasn't enuf to drench the people's insides, so we had to dunk some of them in the pool...muahahaha...again, i was so not fortunate to get dipped. xD
aaron had one too many shots of vodka. he climbed the wall outside my apartment to the 3rd floor of someone's balcony to retrieve someone's shoe he threw up, only to find it wasn't there. if u think that's the scary part, think again. the shoe was already taken down by another friend of mine, jeremy, who himself scaled the wall b4 aaron did. jeremy was NOT drunk...AT ALL.
had to lend those wet ppl some clothes to change into, clothes which were later conveniently discarded by another friend, who thought she threw away aaron's old clothes....my dearest sports shorts....

New students?
There are new malaysian students at my university this semester! It's not confirmed, but there seems to be 3 of them. The trouble is we've been having a difficult time trying to get a hold of them. We've not met them before but we know they're here. I may have been alil over anxious about this, because wherever I go on campus and around the area, I've been trying to look around to see if I could somehow spot them out, which is a crazy idea. Can I be that lucky??
A few days ago I was going to this chinese restaurant near my place (Kin Lin) to pick up an order i called in. Then i saw this chinese girl, who was sitting outside subway on one of their tables, eating food from Kin Lin which is next door. Now how weird is that?? Alright maybe not that weird. But this is the scenario i had in my head.
Girl walks in, instead of finding a place to sit goes straight to the counter to order, which you're not supposed to do if u want to eat in. She doesn't realize that, so she gets a carry out order, didn't want to embarass herself, thus used Subway's outside table instead. Voila! That's your alibi baby.
I've gone nuts, yes i know. Anyway, i thought, "hey, why dont i just ask her, no harm right?" Too late, my feet were faster bringing me home together with my beef 'loh mien' than i could gather my guts. Yep, chickened out, or rather, didn't wanna embarass myself in case she had said that she was from China.
I just came back from work tonight, and yes my quest to find these lost students did not end. We had a table with 4 chinese customers, 3 guys & a girl, not much older than i am. After i gave them their appetizers, i somehow had it in me to ask them where they were from, upon which they said Wichita. Alamak, dungu, which country lah....but of course i didn't say the latter part lah.
Having failed my mission, i continued work, only to later have them ask me again where i was from. Aiseh, thinking aobut it now, i should have said kansas city...hahahah...but i instantly said malaysia, and turns out they were from malaysia as well. I guess they were wondering if i was malaysian, i must have the look.
Anyway, the girl looked my way quite a few times when i walked up and down working, probably to guess if i were msian. I think she's the friendliest one of them all, she smiled at me, looked really friendly but didn't talk (aiyar, should have spoken to her! quite chun also lah), another guy was their spokesman. The two other guys barely looked my way.Anyway, i had just warmed up to them, and wanted to ask them which uni they were from, when suddenly their Mr. spokesman asked me to change a $20 bill to fives and ones. WTH is your problem man??? You think i'm what waiter ar?? ....which i was technically, and that gave me a small lesson in humility. Trust me it was a small lesson indeed. When i first started working at the restaurant, I'd already got a bigger blow than that. Humbling, definitely.
My dad also realized this when he worked at another branch for a short period of time, doing the same job as i. I think before they got on the plane to come here, my parents had already realized that their job options over here wouldn't necessarily be their favorites. But i think they know what that really means now after going through the experience first hand. As for me, I know a teeny bit.
