It's been awhile
hmm...didnt update in a while. the semester is almost over! one more month to finals! quite glad actually, can't stand it anymore! arrgghh! me brains gonna fry!
Halloween
How could I have forgot to put an entry for this! Halloween! hmm..was it october 31st or november 1st? anyway, my friends and i went to this cool place to "celebrate" that night....muahahaha.... It's in downtown Kansas City, with old, very tall, nostalgic, brick buildings. it was very cold that night, and with ppl in costumes walking around the area. I saw one which was pretty cool. This guy got his skinned painted dark grey, looking like the werewolf-vampire mix in the movie "Underworld". And he wasn't wearing anything above waist level! wahliao, darn macho, ppl were literally shivering in jackets and sweaters, while this guy prances around half naked.
anyway, we went to a "haunted house"....muahahahaha....
it was pretty cool. what do i mean? the haunted house that i'm referring to is the super-hebat version to the "haunted classrooms" they have at AMC and other schools when they have food fairs. They have half an entire building to use, but the ticket was still abit too expensive. $20 per person, phew...but, must try at least once ler, culture exposure =P
i think we took like half an hour walking thru the whole maze...they had some pretty interesting effects, not just the usual jump-out-of-a-dark-corner deal. There were 2 tiny shafts which we had to slide to get to another level, which i thought was pretty cool. the shafts were quite steep, especially the second one, i think it dropped almost 3 floors!
scary, especially when u dunno how far and long it will go! most of the time, it's dark in there, and it makes you more attuned to the sounds around you. so what they do is, these ppl with masks/costumes walk around with a chain, and they smack it real loud against walls, rails, which makes you jump when you least expect it. what else, of course, they got these loud, giant, puppets jumping out from the dark, ppl pretending to be statues, then at the last moment scream, etc. stoopit fellas... oo...another trick is, they let you walk in a quiet, pitch black maze, cant see a thing, u have to feel the walls to move, then there are places where a strong jet of air shoots out from the wall all of a sudden, which really made me jump! cuz didnt expect mah...
so, what are the elements to scare ppl? size (go BIG), sound (also go BIG), and the unexpected. at the end of it, i saw a small girl about 10yrs old, walk out with red, wet eyes, holding her dad.
not for those with a faint heart.
Sofa
i got a free sofa! a friend gave it to me, cuz she got a new one. so, i got a sofa in the living room now! yay! watch TV!
still looking for a church.
went for a supposed christian get-together today, but there wasn't anyone!

Yay!
I applied for a credit card, and I got approved! In fact, they gave me two! One visa, one mastercard, kekekeke... everybody says that it's safer to use a credit card rather than a debit card over here in the US, so I've been trying to apply. Besides, I can start building my credit profile, which is a big deal in the US.
Anyway, today I tried using one of the cards, but it didn't go through. It turns out that it wasn't activated yet. Hey, before you start laughing, it wasn't my mistake. I called Citibank to activate both cards the night before, so it's either their system's fault or the person who handled my card's fault. Anyway, got that fixed, shouldn't be a problem now.

Sweet and Sour sauce
In the kitchen of Bo Ling's, there's this metal pot of sweet and sour sauce which they leave to heat the whole day. So, I come in in the evening, I'm rushing to get the dishes out, and there's the pot, filled with red, hot sauce, which is almost boiling. I hurriedly scooped some out and poured it into the bowl I'm holding on my left hand. Some of that red, hot sauce drips down the side of the bowl and onto my finger, YOW! ....burning man, burning. it left a bubble on me index finger few hours later, and now, all that's left is a nasty mark. Lesson: Careful with sweet and sour sauce eh.
